Netflix Won’t Have a Dedicated App for Apple’s Vision Pro Headset at Launch

According to a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple’s Vision Pro headset will not have a dedicated Netflix app at launch. Netflix reportedly does not plan to release an app specifically for Apple’s headset, nor does it intend to make its iPad app compatible with the platform. This decision means that users won’t have the option to watch Netflix content in a dedicated app, unlike other streaming services that have announced support for the headset. Instead, users will need to watch Netflix content in a web browser, potentially impacting the immersive experience and limiting features like offline viewing.

Other streaming services, including Disney Plus, Max, Amazon Prime Video, and Paramount Plus, have announced support for Apple’s Vision Pro headset. The absence of a dedicated Netflix app might affect the device’s appeal for users who want to use it as a platform for streaming their favorite shows and movies.

A Netflix spokesperson mentioned that members would be able to enjoy Netflix on the web browser on the Vision Pro, similar to how they can on Macs. Meanwhile, Netflix did create an app for Meta’s Quest headsets, although the app is considered outdated. Apple has not provided an immediate response to the situation. The Vision Pro headset is priced at $3,499 and is expected to launch with 3D movies and experiences from Disney Plus and Apple TV.
