The Batman’s Solo Act: Not Partying in Gunn’s DCU!

Hold onto your capes, DC fans! James Gunn spilled some DCU tea on Threads, revealing why Robert Pattinson’s Batman won’t be joining the superhero bash in Gunn’s cinematic universe.

The Cosmic Explanation: DC Else worlds Chronicles!

In a cosmic twist, Gunn clarified that The Batman and its sequel are considered DC Else worlds tales. What does that mean? Well, it’s like a separate universe, a Batman pocket dimension if you will, untouched by the shenanigans of films like Gunn’s Superman: Legacy.

Gunn set the record straight when a fan popped the question on Threads, asking, “Why isn’t [director Matt] Reeves’ The Batman allowed to exist within the new DCU?”

“It’s not an ‘allowed’ thing,” Gunn responded. “It’s Matt’s choice, and we respect that.”

The Batman’s Standalone Swagger!

Reeves, the maestro behind The Batman series, wants to keep his bat-shaped toys in their own playpen. It’s a standalone tale, a crime saga of Batman proportions, and it’s got its own sandbox. Gunn emphasized that Reeves’ Bat-verse is “his own thing,” a Batman crime saga unfolding independent of the DCU’s superhero soiree.

Gunn’s DCU Housekeeping and The Batman’s Future!

Gunn, the DC Studios co-CEO, clarified the DCU house rules. While The Batman and Joker: Folie à Deux are Else worlds, Gunn’s keeping tabs. He’s been giving notes on Todd Phillips’ Joker sequel, and The Batman Part II is already in the creative oven. Although Gunn hasn’t seen the script yet, he’s eagerly anticipating the next installment of Reeves’ bat-tastic trilogy.

So, DC fans, fret not! The Batman might not be mingling with Superman and company in the DCU, but it’s got its own bat signal shining bright in the Else worlds sky.
