Oranjezicht Market

Step right up, folks! Welcome to the marvelous world of the Oranjezicht City Farm Market, where we proudly proclaim: “No entrance fee here, friends!” Our pedestrian entrances are just a hop, skip, and a jump from Beach Road, so whether you’re strutting, cycling, jogging, or leading your doggy on a parade, you’re most welcome to join the fun.

If you’re a fan of public transport, our trusty friends from MyCiTi have got your back. The 104 route boldly stops right opposite our market on Beach Road, and the T01 takes its bow there too, as well as on Granger Bay Blvd, just a stone’s throw away.

Now, for those four-wheeled travelers, fear not! We’ve got a whopping 350 parking bays right next door, and the V&A Waterfront handles the parking prices. It starts at a reasonable R10 for the first hour, so your wallet won’t run for the hills.

And what’s a market without our furry friends, right? Dogs are VIPs here, but we’ve got six golden rules to ensure a pawsitively great experience for everyone:

Keep your pooch on a short leash, like they’re your trusty sidekick.

Make sure they’re well-behaved and stick by your side at all times. No rogue agents, please.

Keep them away from the produce, plants, and other delectable delights.

Furry buddies should be friendly with fellow dogs and the tiny humans.

Remember, not everyone’s a fan of canines, and some folks might be allergic to our furry companions.

Lastly, don’t forget to scoop that poop, folks!

Our traders are like modern-day alchemists, weaving tales of urban farming, Cape Town’s history, and a sense of place into their offerings. They use labels, seasonal produce, and a touch of magic to make it all happen. Stallholders get the red carpet treatment because we want to give start-up businesses a fair shot, and our market vibe is like that friend who always has your back—friendly and supportive, of course.

And yes, we’ve got goodies for all the dietary superheroes out there. Vegans, vegetarians, raw food enthusiasts, and folks on gluten, sugar, and dairy-free adventures, we’ve got your back! Plus, we’re all about those indigenous plants, heirloom seeds, and gardening treasures.

In case you were wondering, our fabulous OZCF Market bagged the South African Heritage Award at the 2014 Eat Out Zonnebloem Produce Awards. No biggie.

Now, let’s talk about a bit of history. The Market and the Farm used to be the dynamic duo, with the Farm running the Market as a non-profit endeavor. But from December 1, 2017, the Market stepped into the spotlight as an independent private company with the OZCF brand on loan.

Why the change? Well, at the AGM of the Oranjezicht City Farm Non-Profit Company (NPC), held in August 2017, it was decided that the Market Company needed an entrepreneurial boost. It was like growing from a cozy cottage into a bustling business hub, requiring all the creative flair, business know-how, and resources. So, the Market Company found new parents in Sheryl Ozinsky and Caz Friedmann, who’ve been rocking the market since it moved from Homestead Park in 2014. This move is here to ensure that our market continues to be the bee’s knees, serving customers, farmers, and traders with a sprinkle of magic.
