Blaauwklippen Wine Estate Unveils Luxe Retreat: Newmark Partnership Redefines Hospitality in Stellenbosch

In a stunning display of groundbreaking innovation, Blaauwklippen Wine Estate is set to grace the world with yet another opulent retreat, proudly perched within the majestic confines of Stellenbosch. They’ve generously handed over the keys, or vines, rather, to Newmark Hotels & Reserves, a Cape Town-based hospitality maestro, cementing a partnership that’s poised to redefine luxury living on a wine farm.

Picture this: 34 units, all under Newmark’s watchful eye, promising an experience so divine it’s expected to materialize in the mythical land of Q1 2025. As they play landlord to the oldest wine farm in Stellenbosch, dating back to 1682, one can’t help but marvel at the historical prowess that comes with being the proud owner of granite or, as they whimsically call it, “blue stones.”

Fast forward to today, and Blaauwklippen Wine Estate is the hottest ticket in town, renowned not just for its wines but for inventing the Zinfandel craze in South Africa. Visitors, or rather worshippers of the grape, can partake in wine sampling, engage in culinary escapades, marvel at art in the Blaauwklippen Art Gallery, join the weekend circus they call a market, or even get their adrenaline fix at the Bike Park and Pump Track. Oh, and did we mention the newly minted De Blaauwe Kitchen? It’s serving everything from sunrise to moonrise, ensuring you never have to leave the enchanted grounds.

For those who prefer to snooze in style, currently on the scene are the Jonkershuis Guest House and the Manor House—heritage beauties dating back to the 1700s. Elegance drips from every room, offering views that could make a parched man weep.

And now, hold onto your wine glasses, because they’re about to birth a new marvel—luxury accommodations that’ll be the talk of the vineyard. Overlooking the Blaauwklippen River and flaunting views of manicured vineyards and the Stellenbosch mountains, this 18 to 20-month project promises to blend in so seamlessly with the existing architecture that you might just mistake it for a mirage induced by a tad too much Zinfandel. Cheers to progress!
