Mercedes-Benz has finally revealed the much-anticipated all-electric version of its iconic G-Wagon, officially named the ‘G580 with EQ Technology,’ promising an “uncompromised” driving experience.

Design: Staying true to its legendary boxy design, the electric G-Wagon maintains its iconic appearance reminiscent of its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterparts. It features a sleek gloss black panel at the front with four horizontal vents flanking the prominent three-pointed star emblem. Notable design elements include circular LED headlights, LED taillights, and a rear storage box for charging cables. Standard features include 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels.

Interior: Inside the cabin, the electric G-Wagon boasts the latest MBUX infotainment system with a 12.3-inch touchscreen display compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Additional luxuries include temperature-controlled cup holders, wireless charging, keyless entry, a Burmester 3D surround-sound system, and premium leather upholstery throughout. The G580 offers five drive modes: Comfort, Sport, Individual, Trail, and Rock.

Customization Options: Buyers can choose from five colour options and further customize with AMG Line and Night packages.

Performance: Powering the G580 is a 116 kWh battery pack, providing an estimated range of 386 km. Equipped with fast-charging capabilities of up to 200 kW at Level 3 DC chargers, it can charge from 10% to 80% in just 30 minutes. The electric G-Wagon is driven by four electric motors—two at the front and two at the rear—delivering a total power output of 432 kW and torque of 1,165 Nm. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds, with an electronically limited top speed of 180 km/h.

Off-Road Performance: The G580 maintains its ladder-frame chassis and features adjustable dampers at each corner for off-road performance. It can tackle steep inclines and has a fording depth of 850.9 mm. Ground clearance measures 248.92 mm, and approach, departure, and breakover angles are rated at 32, 30.7, and 20.3 degrees, respectively.
