Rare Predecessors of Suzuki and Kawasaki Motorcycles to be Auctioned

Two rare motorcycles, predecessors to the first production Suzuki and Kawasaki bikes, will be featured in the Shuttleworth Spring Motorcycle Sale in April. These historical motorcycles represent early stages in the development of Suzuki and Kawasaki, showcasing their evolution in the motorcycle industry.

  1. 1958 Colleda 250 TT (SJK):
    • This motorcycle was produced under the ‘SJK’ name before Suzuki adopted its brand in 1964.
    • It is a 1958 Colleda 250 TT, featuring a 247cc two-stroke twin engine.
    • The Colleda 250 TT is the only known example outside Japan.
    • Presented in ‘original and unrestored’ condition.
    • Expected auction price: £12,000-£14,000.
    • It serves as a predecessor to Suzuki’s later models like the T20 and GT250.
  2. 1963 Meguro S-8 250 Junior:
    • The Meguro S-8 250 Junior is a 1963 model, equipped with a 250cc OHV single-cylinder engine.
    • Meguro was one of the early Japanese motorcycle manufacturers, eventually absorbed into Kawasaki Heavy Industries in 1960.
    • This motorcycle is in ‘original and unrestored’ condition.
    • Expected auction price: £6,000-£8,000.
    • Meguro’s legacy continued within Kawasaki until the name was dropped in 1964.
